Doing Business with the Forest Preserve District

While Forest Preserve District of DuPage County employees perform most of the maintenance and operation of District land and facilities, the District may employ contractors for large construction or restoration projects.

The Forest Preserve District purchases required goods and services in conformance with Illinois state law, the DuPage County Purchasing Ordinance, related resolutions of the Board of Commissioners and administrative policies. The District makes requirements for purchases under $20,000 in accordance with established procedures for small-dollar purchases and informal quotations. For purchases over $20,000, it advertises formal bid announcements in local newspapers and may also list them in the Current Bid and Proposal Announcements section below.

When a supplier is aware of a solicitation, it should contact the office listed on the announcement to request a bid document. The Forest Preserve District Board of Commissioners reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities.

Current Bid and Proposal Announcements

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is currently seeking bids and proposals on the following projects.

Mayslake Horse Trough Relocation 'Revised'

Bid Due: 2017-06-27, 9 a.m.

Bid Open: 2017-06-27, 9 a.m.

Sealed bids will be received at the main office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 3 South 580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, Illinois, 60189-8761 until 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 and will be publicly opened at 9 a.m. at that location, for a project titled "Mayslake Horse Trough Relocation ‘Revised.’" The bids must be accompanied by a 10% bid security. The work involves constructing crushed granite pavement with limestone cobble edging, dry stacked stone retaining wall, minor site grading, site electrical work, planting installation and restoration turf seeding.

This project is subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, 820 ILCS 130/0.01 et seq. The contractor shall also abide by the employment of Illinois Workers on Public Works Act (30 ILCS 570, sec 1-7). Minority business firms are encouraged to submit bids on the project and successful contract bidders are encouraged to utilize minority businesses as subcontractors for supplies, equipment, services and construction.

A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 West 31st Street, Oakbrook, IL 60523. Consideration of contract award will likely be made on Tuesday July 18, 2017.

The Forest Preserve Commission reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities. The engineer’s estimate is $25,000, including alternates. Danada Equestrian Fencing

Bid Due: 2017-06-22, 2 p.m.

Bid Open: 2017-06-22, 2 p.m.

Sealed bids will be received at the main office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 3 South 580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, Illinois, 60189-8761 until 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017 and will be publicly opened at 2 p.m. at that location, for a project titled "Danada Equestrian Fencing." The bids must be accompanied by a 10% bid security. The work involves construction of approximately 2,240 linear feet of equestrian fencing, and the installation of eight 12’ steel tube gates.

This project is subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, 820 ILCS 130/0.01 et seq. The contractor shall also abide by the employment of Illinois Workers on Public Works Act (30 ILCS 570, sec 1-7). Minority business firms are encouraged to submit bids on the project and successful contract bidders are encouraged to utilize minority businesses as subcontractors for supplies, equipment, services and construction.

A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the District headquarters, 3S580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, IL 60189. Consideration of contract award will likely be made on Tuesday July 18, 2017.

Supply of Asphalt Emulsion

Bid Open: 2017-06-16, 10:05 a.m.

Sealed bids for the supply of asphalt emulsion, Bid #GM-17-68437, will be received at the main office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 3 South 580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, Illinois 60189-8761, or mailed to Office of Field Operations, Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, Attn: Eric Schmidt, P.O. Box 5000, Wheaton, IL 60187-5000 until 10 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017 and will be publicly opened at 10:05 a.m. at that location.
