Illinois Nature Preserves

Eight sites within the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County have been designated as Illinois State Nature Preserves and/or land and water reserves by the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission (INPC), totalling 2,668 acres or 11% of the District's total holdings. This extra level of protection ensures that high-quality natural areas will be preserved for generations to come.

The following sites have been dedicated since 1992. Because of the designation, certain recreational activities are limited. Check the links below to learn more:
