Hidden Lake Forest Preserve Picnic Shelter

In spring 2016, the Forest Preserve District began the construction of a 50-person picnic shelter in the existing 1-acre picnic area at Hidden Lake Forest Preserve in Downers Grove. The 24-foot by 36-foot shelter accommodates six picnic tables and contains two fixed grills, one of which is an accessible grill. This shelter is located near the preserve’s other amenities — a flush washroom and 49-car parking lot — and offers scenic views of Round Meadow Lake.

Hidden Lake Forest Preserve offers multipurpose trails, fishing and picnicking.

The District’s capital development fund covered the $175,000 project, including its design, permitting and construction.

The District awarded the construction contract for this project in January 2016 and was completed in summer 2016. Preserve users may reserve this shelter for their next outing at Hidden Lake.
