Doing Business With the Forest Preserve District

While Forest Preserve District employees perform land and facilities' maintenance, we often employ contractors for largescale construction or restoration projects.

The District purchases required goods and services in conformance with Illinois state law, the DuPage County Purchasing Ordinance, related resolutions of the Board of Commissioners and administrative policies. The District makes requirements for purchases under $20,000 in accordance with established procedures for small-dollar purchases and informal quotations. For purchases over $20,000, it advertises formal bid announcements in local newspapers and also lists them on this page. 

A supplier who is aware of a solicitation may contact the department listed on the announcement to request a bid document.

The District's Board of Commissioners reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities. 

 

Current Bid & Proposal Announcements

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is currently seeking bids and proposals on the following projects.

 

Demolition Services, Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve-Pedestrian Bridge

Sealed bids for a project titled “Demolition Services, Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve-Pedestrian Bridge, Forest Preserve District of DuPage County” will be received at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County's headquarters at 3S580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, IL 60189 until 10 a.m. on Wed., March 14, 2018. Bids will then be publicly opened and read aloud at the same location on March 14, 2018 at 10:05 a.m. Contractor must provide labor, equipment and supplies as described in the bid packet.

Bids on all work of this contract shall be subject to the provisions of the "Illinois Prevailing Wage Act" (Illinois Revised Statutes, Chapter 48, Section 39S - 1-12). A mandatory pre-bid conference will be conducted on Thurs., March 1, 2018 at 9 a.m. onsite at Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve, Pedestrian Bridge in Darien, IL at the intersection of Cass Ave. and Bluff Road. (Check-in at 8:45 a.m.) Consideration of contract award will be made by the Forest Preserve District's Board of Commissioners.

McCormick Woods Trail at St. James Farm Forest Preserve

Sealed bids for the "McCormick Woods Trail at St. James Farm Forest Preserve" project will be received at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County's headquarters at 3S580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, IL 60189 until 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018 and will be publicly opened at that time and location. The bids must be accompanied by a 10 percent bid security.

Main components of work involve completion of a 0.7 mile multipurpose limestone screening trail at St. James Farm Forest Preserve in Warrenville, IL. The project includes 1,350 CY of total earthwork/ topsoil placement; placement of 4,100 SY of limestone screenings at 2” depth; and placement of aggregate base at 6” depth. Additional components of work include installation of 2,850 LF of erosion control barrier and 5,850 LF of temporary fence; installation of 240 LF of CMP culverts and 6 sub-surface drainage seams; installation, removal and restoration of stabilized construction entrance and construction access route; and miscellaneous tree removals and pruning. Restoration components of the job include, seeding 2.2 acres of trail shoulders and disturbed areas; installation of 6,275 SY of erosion control blanket; and ecological management of 5.63 acres of wetland buffers and 2.2 acres of seeded areas, for a minimum of 3 years post construction of the trail. 

This project is subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, 820 ILCS 130/0.01 et seq. The contractor shall also abide by the employment of Illinois Workers on Public Works Act (30 ILCS 570, sec 1-7). A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018 at the main office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. Consideration of contract award will likely be made on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.

District-Wide Natural Areas Maintenance Project

Sealed bids for the “District-Wide Natural Areas Maintenance Project”will be accepted at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County's headquarters at 3S580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, IL 60189 until Wed., Feb. 28, 2018 at 11 a.m. Bids will be opened on Wed., Feb. 28, 2018 at 11:02 a.m. at the same location. Bids received after the deadline for submission will not be accepted and will be returned unopened. It is anticipated that the District’s Board of Commissioners will consider the bids on or about Tues., March 20, 2018.

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County seeks a contractor(s) to perform various specialized ecological management tasks including herbicide application, tree removal, and vegetation augmentation. Work shall include hand cutting (chain saws, hand saws, brush saws), mechanical cutting (rubber tracked skid steer mounted equipment including flail forestry mower and/or fixed tooth forestry mower), herbicide application (backpack, ATV) of exotic and excess weedy native woody species, brush disposal via brush pile burning, and native seed collection and dispersal.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on Wed., Feb. 14, 2018 at 9 a.m. at the Forest Preserve District's headquarters at the aforementioned address.

All potential bidders will be required to have extensive proven experience with ecological management in natural areas within the Chicago Wilderness Region. References must be produced with bid submittal.

Washroom and Concession Building Site Work at The Preserve at Oak Meadows Golf Course

Sealed bids for the "Washroom and Concession Building Site Work at The Preserve at Oak Meadows Golf Course" will be received at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County's headquarters at 3S580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, IL, 60189 until 1:30 p.m. on Mon.,  Feb. 12, 2018 and will be publicly opened at that time and location. The bids must be accompanied by a 10 percent bid security. Main components of the work involve completion of all necessary site work and utilities in preparation of a prefabricated washroom and concession building (to be delivered and placed by others) at The Preserve at Oak Meadows Golf Course in Addison/Wood Dale, IL. The site work shall include site grading and excavation; concrete footing and foundation for the prefabricated building; site utilities, including installation of the water service line, sanitary sewer line, electrical service line and all other required utility systems and equipment necessary; rough and finish plumbing, including installation of all plumbing fixtures, pipes and systems within the prefabricated washroom and concession building; and miscellaneous electrical work. The work shall be bid as individual trade contracts with the District coordinating work and performing other general contractor duties. The bid shall include the following trade packages: Excavation; Concrete Structural; Electrical; and Plumbing. The bidder may bid on any number of trade packages as the bidder wants.

This project is subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, 820 ILCS 130/0.01 et seq. The contractor shall also abide by the employment of Illinois Workers on Public Works Act (30 ILCS 570, sec 1-7). A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wed., Jan. 24, 2018 at the Forest Preserve District's headquarters. Consideration of contract award will likely be made on Tues., March 6, 2018.
