Wild Things: Restoration Projects Enhance Forest Preserves
District Ranger Adam Carlson speaks about why the Forest Preserve District is committed to habitat restoration on Wild Things.
Many of our projects seek to return natural functions to waterways, such as Spring Brook at St. James Farm Forest Preserve and Salt Creek at Oak Meadows. Other restoration projects — like the one at Churchill Woods Forest Preserve — focus on the removal of invasive and shrubby, nonnative species including buckthorn and honeysuckle to replenish a greater diversity of native plants. Learn more about these projects under our Plans and Projects.
