Join 'Taffy Pulling Party' at Kline Creek Farm Feb. 11, 18, 20 and 25
(Jan. 24, 2017) — Discover how to turn molasses into taffy at a “Taffy Pulling Party” Feb. 11, 18, 20 and 25 at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Kline Creek Farm, 1N600 County Farm Road in West Chicago.
The one-hour programs start at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the warm kitchen of the 1890s farmhouse of this living history farm. Help measure and mix the ingredients and stretch and pull the taffy as it cools. Then wrap some up to enjoy at home. Tour the historic farmhouse, too, to discover what life was like for the 19th century folks who would have enjoyed this same activity.
“In addition to making a sweet treat, you can explore Kline Creek Farm and see the animals,” said Forest Preserve District Commissioner Al Murphy, District 6.
“If you’re looking for a fun outing for the whole family, join us for this old-time program,” said Forest Preserve District of DuPage County President Joe Cantore.
“Taffy Pulling Party” is $5 per person and is for ages 6 and up (under 18 with an adult). Register online or at 630-876-5900.
