School, Teacher and Scout Programs
The Forest Preserve District offers a variety of engaging educational experiences for students at our education centers and forest preserves. Our naturalists and heritage interpreters offer school programs including field trips, self-guided programs, in-class presentations and learning opportunities for children. We also offer a variety of professional development and extension programs at our education centers for teachers.
We also offer a range of opportunities for Scouts and youth groups. Most of our options have requirements that Scouts must complete in advance and turn in at the program. For information about our Scout programs, call Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center at 630-850-8110.
Our educational loan boxes are a wonderful way for teachers to enhance classroom curricula and introduce students to DuPage County’s natural and cultural history. Each box contains suggested lesson and activity outlines, books, DVDs, and specimens for students to examine; all materials align with Illinois Learning Standards.
Forest Preserve District and Illinois Department of Natural Resources loan boxes are available for two-week periods. To reserve a loan box, call 630-933-7248.
