Planning a Summer Party, Outing or Retreat? Have It at Herrick! Starting May 28

New 2019 boating, fishing and archery packages available weekdays

(May 21, 2019) — Easily organize memorable weekday birthday parties, field trips, and retreats with Have It at Herrick! boating, picnic, fishing, and archery packages at Herrick Lake Forest Preserve in Wheaton starting May 28.

Two-, four-, and eight-hour packages are available weekdays through Aug. 30 and include exclusive use of the east picnic shelter and the preserve’s entire fleet of watercraft (12 kayaks, 12 canoes and six rowboats) with help from Forest Preserve District staff. Groups can borrow fishing poles and tackle as well (bait not included). For an extra charge, planners can add a 90-minute ranger-led archery program to any four-hour package; archery is included with the eight-hour package.

The two-, four-, and eight-hour packages are $250, $400, and $750 respectively for DuPage residents; $300, $475, and $850 for nonresidents; and $150, $240, and $450 for certified youth- and special-needs groups.

On weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day (as well as both holidays and July 4) visitors can rent individual kayaks, canoes and rowboats by the hour at Herrick Lake between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Single kayaks and rowboats are $12 per hour; canoes and two-person kayaks are $15 per hour.
