Explore Ways to Volunteer at Jan. 11 Open House & Jan. 30 Info Session

Volunteers needed for year-round programs and one-time workdays

(Dec. 18, 2019) — Make a resolution to volunteer in 2020 by attending the DuPage Forest Preserve District’s Volunteer Open House on Saturday, Jan.11, and Volunteer Information Session on Thursday, Jan. 30, both at District headquarters at 3S5800 Naperville Road in Wheaton.
The Jan. 11 open house runs from 9 a.m. to noon and will showcase the Forest Preserve District’s 50 volunteer opportunities in 10 different volunteer programs. A PowerPoint presentation at 10 a.m. will highlight each program, but attendees can talk to current volunteers and staff members throughout the event. The one-hour information session on Thursday, Jan. 30, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. will feature a general overview of volunteer opportunities.

Forest Preserve District volunteers introduce school groups and families to nature, bring history to life, and care for animals. They restore critical habitats and help visitors explore forest preserve trails and discover new outdoor activities such as archery, kayaking and geocaching. Adults, junior volunteers and families can choose from weekly, monthly and one-time opportunities. Scout groups, church groups, corporations and community organizations can coordinate group workdays that bring members together through shared accomplishments.
