Willowbrook Wildlife Center’s rehabilitation enclosures for small mammals and birds has not been replaced in more than 20 years and is deteriorating rapidly each year due to exposure to weather and other elements.
Ongoing maintenance repairs have been made to ensure enclosures remain functioning, but staff has determined it is time for full replacement of the enclosure’s frames, gates and fencing. This project will replace the enclosure in kind so that staff may continue to care for and rehabilitate wildlife at the center.
The plans and specifications for the project will be developed in summer of 2021, with construction anticipated in fall 2021, to be fully completed by the end of March 2022.
The project will be funded through the Forest Preserve District’s annually appropriated construction and development funds.
