Doing Business With the Forest Preserve District

While Forest Preserve District employees perform land and facilities' maintenance, we often employ contractors for largescale construction or restoration projects.

The District purchases required goods and services in conformance with Illinois state law, the DuPage County Purchasing Ordinance, related resolutions of the Board of Commissioners and administrative policies. The District makes requirements for purchases under $20,000 in accordance with established procedures for small-dollar purchases and informal quotations. For purchases over $20,000, it advertises formal bid announcements in local newspapers and also lists them on this page. 

A supplier who is aware of a solicitation may contact the department listed on the announcement to request a bid document.

The District's Board of Commissioners reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities.

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is currently seeking bids and proposals on the following projects.


Fleet Bids

The District’s Fleet Management purchases items such as vehicles, landscaping and construction equipment at various times throughout the year. Information and specifications about items out for bid can be found here. Please check dates for each bid, as they will not have the same due dates or meeting dates. It is the bidder’s responsibility to check back occasionally for all amendments and other documents.  


The Preserve at Oak Meadows Clubhouse Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic System Design

Qualifications statements will be received until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29 for a project titled “The Preserve at Oak Meadows Clubhouse Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic System Design." The main purpose of the project is to design and engineer a rooftop solar photovoltaic system at the proposed clubhouse and existing cart storage building at The Preserve at Oak Meadows in Addison, IL.

The District will rank respondents on their qualifications statements and references and will negotiate a contract for professional services with the most qualified firm per the Illinois Local Government Professional Services Selection Act (50 ILCS 510).

Willowbrook Crane Cage Mesh Replacement Revised

Sealed bids will be received until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23 and will be publicly opened at that time for a project titled "Willowbrook Crain Cage Mesh Replacement Revised" at the main office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 3 South 580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, Illinois, 60189-8761. The bids must be accompanied by a 10% bid security. The work involves removing existing nylon netting and furnishing and installing nylon mesh netting to the existing cage structure. Two alternates for removing and installing new nylon netting at another enclosure, and furnishing and installing an electric fencing system are also included.

A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019 at Willowbrook Wildlife Center, 525 South Park Blvd, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Consideration of contract award will likely be made on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019.

This project is subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, 820 ILCS 130/0.01 et seq. The contractor shall also abide by the employment of Illinois Workers on Public Works Act (30 ILCS 570, sec 1-7). Minority business firms are encouraged to submit bids on the project and successful contract bidders are encouraged to utilize minority businesses as subcontractors for supplies, equipment, services and construction.
