Timber Ridge & West Branch - West Branch Regional Trail

The Forest Preserve District is working cooperatively with the Village of Carol Stream and the Wayne Township Road District to complete a critical missing segment in the West Branch Regional Trail from Timber Ridge Forest Preserve in West Chicago to West Branch Forest Preserve in Carol Stream. The approximately 1.4-mile trail will connect to the West Branch Regional Trail at St. Charles Road and then extends north along Fair Oaks Road to the West Branch Regional Trail at Lies Road. The trail will also extend north of Lies Road along Fair Oaks Road to connect to other local trails. Another short trail segment will extend from the intersection of St. Charles and Fair Oaks roads east to Benjamin Middle School.

The Village of Carol Stream has obtained $1,528,500 in matching grants funds for the project. Per the Intergovernmental Agreement between Carol Stream, the Wayne Township Road District and the Forest Preserve District, the Forest Preserve District will transfer right of way for the trail at no cost and will be responsible for $248,600 toward the local match. Carol Stream and the Wayne Township Road District are responsible for the remaining match amount and the ongoing maintenance of the trail segment.
