Test Your Fishing Skills at Popular Hard Water Classic Ice Fishing Tournament Feb. 7

A signature Chicagoland ice fishing tournament returns with fun and prizes for all ages

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County invites anglers of all ages to test their skills and luck at the annual Hard Water Classic ice fishing tournament on Saturday, Feb. 7, from noon to 3:30 p.m. at Silver Lake in Blackwell Forest Preserve in Warrenville.

Registration is $20 in advance online or $25 at the event. Proceeds benefit ranger-led recreation programs, which provide outdoor experiences for special-needs groups, youth groups, Scouts, and community resource centers throughout DuPage County. “We’re glad to bring ice fishing back to the Forest Preserve District this year. Changing winter conditions have made safe ice increasingly rare in DuPage County, so it’s especially meaningful to offer this chance for people to connect with nature, enjoy friendly competition, and support local recreation programs,” said Adam Carlson, ranger operations assistant manager for the Forest Preserve District.

Check-in and on-site registrations are from 11 to 11:45 a.m., and tournament fishing runs from noon to 3:30 p.m. Participants must bring their own gear and bait and follow all fishing regulations and tournament rules. Anglers 16 and older who are not legally disabled must carry valid Illinois fishing licenses.

The main entrance is on the north side of Butterfield Road 0.25 mile west of Winfield Road.
