Fullersburg Woods Flat Bridge Replacement
In August of 2010 floodwaters from Salt Creek at Fullersburg Woods Forest Preserve in Oak Brook caused a pier to fail on the flat bridge, which the Civilian Conservation Corps had constructed in the 1930s. Since the flood, the bridge has been closed.
In August of 2012 the Board of Commissioners approved a construction contract to replace the damaged bridge with a new single-span bridge. Construction began in September 2012. The new bridge was substantially complete by mid-March, and it opened on March 23, 2013.
