Partnering to Save Raptors
Willowbrook Wildlife Center is a longstanding partner with ComEd and its employees. For many years, ComEd has admitted injured wildlife — including American bald eagles, hawks, herons and even ospreys — encountered during their work on electrical towers and power lines throughout DuPage County and the greater Chicago area. Willowbrook treats and rehabilitates the raptors, then releases the birds to the wild. Willowbrook has also helped to teach ComEd’s field supervisors and other staff about migratory bird laws and other environmental topics.
Naturalist Stephanie Touzalin and former Naturalist Ron Skleney offer some insight about the osprey and the partnership oriented to protect these raptors from impact and injury.
