Extreme Motus Wheelchair
This all-terrain wheelchair is designed for wheelchair users and those with limited ambulatory endurance who want to explore various terrain. The chair’s design allows someone to push the user easily over turf, roots, small rocks and branches, and puddles while maintaining easy braking and steering capabilities. It's available in medium (16.5-inch-wide seat that supports 80 – 150 pounds) and large (18.5-inch-wide seat that supports 150 – 250 pounds).

GRIT Freedom Chair
This all-terrain wheelchair is designed for wheelchair users who would like more mobility over rough terrain, such as turf and gravel trails, small rocks and branches, small inclines and declines, and other trails that may be impassable with standard wheelchair casters and tires. Independent lever bars allow users to gain greater torque while pushing to navigate obstacles. The chair has a 20-inch-wide seat and supports up to 300 pounds.

Helavo Outdoor Rollator Walker
This multiterrain walker with oversized wheels and an easily adjustable height is designed for individuals who need extra support while walking along the trails. Its 12-inch pneumatic tires with front shocks allow it to be pushed along varied surfaces and provide additional shock absorption for a smoother experience. The attached seat allows for breaks at any time, and the carrying bag and cup holder let walkers use both hands while keeping necessary items within reach.

Dynamo PrimeStick Walking Stick
The 3-in-1 design functions as a cane, walking stick, or trekking pole for ultimate versatility. It allows for support on one or both sides with an adjustable height, a soft grip handle with supportive wrist strap, and a wide, articulating foot for added traction. It's great for individuals who would like a little extra support while enjoying their time in the preserves.

Sensory Kit
This bag includes a variety of tools for assisting with sensory needs. Adjustable, sound-dampening headphones, sunglasses, pop-its, stretch bands, clickers, spinners, and various sensory gadgets provide the user with numerous choices for sensory regulation.

Articulating Arm With Attachments for Wheelchair
This setup attaches directly to any wheelchair and can hold binoculars or a monocular, picture cards, or a geocaching unit and can support a number of other functions to allow for inclusion in group activities.

Wheelchair Shade Umbrella
Stay comfortable and safe from the sun while enjoying the outdoors with our hands-free shade umbrella, available for participants who are particularly sensitive or susceptible to sunlight exposure. The umbrella easily attaches to most wheelchairs and walkers, providing convenient sun protection so you can focus on exploring and enjoying your preserve experience.

Social Stories
Social stories help participants know what to expect before their visit, making new experiences feel more familiar and comfortable. By using simple language and visuals to explain routines, environments, and expectations, they can reduce anxiety, build confidence, and support successful participation for individuals with a variety of disabilities and support needs.
You can request social stories made for personal visits or group programs. Our accessible recreation coordinator will reach out to you regarding your specific needs or plans so they're incorporated in your story.

Additional Supports
The Forest Preserve District offers additional supports exclusively for people who've signed up for Forest Preserve District programs. To request these items, contact the accessible recreation coordinator at 630-933-7667 or fpdaccessibility@dupageforest.org.
