Waterfall Glen & Wood Dale Grove - Flush Restrooms

The need for modern flush restrooms has been identified as a priority project for the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. Over the next several years, the District has identified seven preserve locations to install flush restrooms. This is a certified master plan project for the District.

The first two preserves identified are Wood Dale Grove Forest Preserve in Wood Dale and Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve in Darien.

Wood Dale Grove was selected as a priority location to support its two picnic shelters, picnic area, two fishing piers and lake, and the preserve’s loop trail. The flush restroom will replace the two existing pit vault latrines.

Waterfall Glen was also selected as a priority location and will be built in conjunction with the Rocky Glen Waterfall parking lot and trailhead improvements at Cass Avenue and Bluff Road.

The modern restrooms will include flush toilets, sinks with running water, drinking fountains and family restrooms for all preserve users.

Status

The District is currently working with consultants to develop plans for flush restrooms at Wood Dale Grove and Waterfall Glen forest preserves. Construction is expected to begin at both sites in summer 2024.

Funding

Approximately $1 million has been budgeted in yearly capital development and master planning funds to cover all costs associated with the design, permitting, and construction of the two flush restrooms at Wood Dale Grove and Waterfall Glen.
