Wayne Grove

Wayne Grove Forest Preserve in Bartlett is a 164-acre area featuring prairies, wetlands and woodlands. No amenities are offered at the preserve.

The preserve contains a high-quality oak woodland with diverse ground vegetation, ponds, wetlands, and meadows.

Wayne Grove is on Stearns Road 0.75 mile east of Route 59 and west of Bartlett Road in BartlettIt does not have a parking lot.


In presettlement times, the preserve was made up of scattering timber, with a small prairie and marsh pocket to the north. After settlement, some of the land was under cultivation, but much of woodland survived.

The first parcel was purchased 1923, making it one of the District’s oldest preserves. Adjacent parcels were purchased in the 1930s, 1956 and 2000s.
