Wayne Grove Forest Preserve in Bartlett is a 164-acre area featuring prairies, wetlands and woodlands. No amenities are offered at the preserve.
In presettlement times, the preserve was made up of scattering timber, with a small prairie and marsh pocket to the north. After settlement, some of the land was under cultivation, but much of woodland survived.
The first parcel was purchased 1923, making it one of the District’s oldest preserves. Adjacent parcels were purchased in the 1930s, 1956 and 2000s.
