Wood Ridge

Wood Ridge Forest Preserve in Wood Ridge is 234 acres of undeveloped natural area with glacier-formed ridges, ravines and potholes. 


Natural Scene

The preserve contains an oak woodland and savanna, wetlands, prairies and meadows. Rich and diverse, it is home to several rare plant species.


Driving Directions

Wood Ridge is south of Davey Road, west of Lemont Road, and just north of the DuPage County/Cook County boundary. It does not have a parking lot.


In presettlement times, the preserve was comprised of prairie and timber. After settlement, some of the land was under cultivation, while many woodland areas stayed intact.

The entire preserve was purchased in the late 1980s.
